Moringa quality differences

Moringa leaf powders are not all created equal. At the moment, there are many manufacturers on the market which import their products from all parts of the world with variations in quality. The plant is still largely unknown in most countries, which is why it is difficult to distinguish the quality.

The products of different manufacturers, however, differ very much in color and quality. From yellow-green to dark-brown powder, the customer can purchase everything online and in local stores. Although Moringa grows very well in many areas, it does not mean that the final product is always healthy for your body. There are strict rules and measures that should be observed and followed when processing Moringa, starting with the hygiene standards during harvest. Careful harvesting without ground contact and thorough washing of the Moringa leaves are of great importance. When the leaves are dried, temperatures must be maintained which not only guarantee the nutrient content, but also keep putrefaction and mold away. When processing is done properly, the result should be a strong, green powder. It also has a slightly sharp flavor and a soothing aroma. These attributes define premium quality.

How to recognize premium Moringa quality

Among the many vendors, there are also few which sell Moringa in substandard quality. However, expert knowledge is necessary for optimal cultivation and the correct processing. The following aspects should be considered when buying Moringa::


  • 1. Color:
    intense green
Moringa should have an intense green color. Depending on the season and how young the leaves are during the harvest, the shade of green may turn lighter or darker without resulting in a difference in quality. Yellowish, pale, gray or brown Moringa powder indicates errors in processing and should be avoided.

  • 2. Scent:
    Grassy fresh
Moringa has a slightly grassy scent, which smells very fresh. It should not smell unpleasant or stale.

  • 3. Teste:
    Slightly sharp
Moringa should have a slightly sharp taste. It has a flavour of "natural" barley grass or horseradish.

  • 4. no stems
Since the nutrients are within the leaves, the separation of the stems from the leaves is decisive for the quality. A large proportion of small stems in the Moringa powder indicates insufficient sorting of the stems.

  • 5. Protective packaging
Light and heat lead to the breakdown of nutrients. That is why packaging such as normal glass or pouches with a viewing window are not suitable for storing Moringa. Multi-layered and coated packaging also reduce the risk of damaging the powder due to high temperatures.

  • 6. Proximity to the producer
Manufacturers with a direct reference to the cultivation of their trees have a greater interest in long-term good quality. Providers who only import and label their products usually do not have the necessary knowledge or influence to ensure the processing is done right.

  • 7. Fair price
The prices for Moringa differ enormously. As with all food products, prices which are too low are caused only by deficiencies in processing or undue pay of the workers. As for our premium Moringa, all parties are paid on equal footing and the best methods for the production are used.

  • 8. Transparency
Transparency is becoming more and more important. Premium quality should not only be praised, but also be proven. You should not trust products whose origin and processing are unclear.
